Making things — and making meaning

Art and craft for kids play an important role in their early education. Its value can be gauged from the fact that it has emotional, physical, cognitive and learning benefits. Whether it's sculpting miniatures out of clay or colouring with crayons, making origami shapes from paper or making a handmade birthday card, art and craft activities provide numerous benefits with a creative outlet.

Learning art and craft enhances creativity and imagination in children. It encourages cognition and develops critical thinking skills. At Vijaya Bharathi Vidyalaya, students are given the opportunity to express their knowledge, ideas and feelings in ways that do not necessarily involve words — and to take pride in work made with their own hands.
